What are human factors?
Human factors are all the things that make us different from logical, completely predictable machines. How we think and relate to other people, equipment and our environment. In simple terms it’s the things that affect our personal performance.
The Clinical Human Factors Group’s (CHFG) vision is of a healthcare system that places an understanding of human factors at the heart of improving clinical, managerial and organisational practice leading to significant improvements in safety and efficiency. Sad news of the death of Karen Woo
Our deepest thoughts go out to the family and friends of Karen Woo, member of the CHFG standing group, who was killed whilst on an aid mission in Afghanistan.

CHFG welcomes the latest NHS White Paper entitled ‘Liberating the NHS’ which explicitly positions patient safety at the heart of healthcare.
Health Secretary mentions CHFG in maiden speech
New Secretary of State for Health, the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP recently referred directly to the work of the CHFG in his maiden speech regarding the NHS.
